Cannes Film Festival 2011 was closed
Cannes Film Festival 2011 in France was closed Sunday 22 of May 2011 evening local time by giving the highest awards in The Tree of Life by Terrence Malick.
The Tree of Life starring Brad Pitt and Sean Penn. The film is a drama movie with surreal elements that are typical Malick made The Thin Red Line (1999) and The New World (2005). The film featuring the characters journey to find the meaning of life.
Malick did not come to the event to receive the award. He represented the producer Bill Pohlad who climbed onto the stage. “He (Malick), a man who is humble and shy,” said Bill explains the absence Malick, as quoted by Reuters on Monday (23 / 5).
Meanwhile, the Best Director award won by the Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn thanks to his work, Drive. This year, Hollywood actor Robert De Niro senior who became president of the jury of this event.
